The purpose of this trip is very clear… we are going to support Church on the Rock by being the behind the scenes, so that their church members are free to b eon the front line making connections with those in their community. Church on the Rock has a very focused missions strategy that finds its foundation in forming relationships with those in their community. We want to help them start and deepen those relationships as they will remain in the lives of those there long after our team is gone.
So we will be helping with setup and running a booth at a community festival called Pitt Meadows Day Festival on Saturday, June 1. This festival is one of the largest in the area and the city has come to count on COTR to help it happen… which is a miracle itself as the first year they tried to help the city was VERY much against a church being involved and now they depend on them. At the booth we will be doing fun activities with kids as well as helping the city in whatever capacity they need for the festival and parade.
(If you'd like to learn more about Pitt Meadows and this event on there website by clicking here.)
One of the big goals for the COTR members for this event is inviting the community to a BBQ on Sunday, June 2 in the evening at their church. We will also help put on the BBQ by setting up, cooking, providing any needed support, and cleaning up after the event. This again will allow the COTR members to focus on the people they have met and not the tasks. This is the best gift and ministry we can give to them!
