For three days, they will serve alongside of Bridge Church and New City Church - both church plants in KC. Students will be involved in projects such as cleaning and repairing ministry spaces such as coffee shops and church buildings, as well as reaching the community through a VBS or handing out popsicles and water in the parks. They will also spend the evenings resting and exploring KC.
TRIP GOALSThe goal of this mission trip is twofold:
- Provide students with an environment of service
- Provide students with an environment of evangelism
RAISING SUPPORT VIA STUDENT MINISTRY OUTREACHSince summer 2018, students have had the opportunity to raise money for camp or mission trip with GracePoint through serving at Outreach Opportunities such as Kids Night Outs, Trunk-R-Treats, Hot Chocolate Outreaches, Car Washes, etc.
In order to receive a cut of the proceeds raised this year, a student must serve at 6 or more of these Outreach Opportunities before June 2019. Students who have served at 6 or more outreaches will know how much money they will receive by mid-May (after our final Kids Night Out of this semester). Abby Grace Meads will contact these students and their parents with this information when it becomes finalized. You will receive a discount code to apply to Camp or Mission Trip.
WHY RAISE SUPPORT VIA SUPPORT LETTERS?
When it comes to missions it takes an entire team to make a trip successful. Inviting people to pray, offer moral support, and/or give financially ensures that we involve as many as possible in the process of sending missionaries. God will bless and reward many more people for faithful service when we are faithful to present meaningful ways to contribute to and participate in missions. You may be surprised to find how many friends and family members are willing to partner with you in missions!
What do we mean when we say “support”?
We truly mean building a team of people who partner with you in ministry.
Three Types of Support:
Financial. This is what most people think of when they think of support. Most trips are too expensive for an individual to pay out of pocket. They are able to ask others to support them by contributing to the cost of the trip. Many are willing to do this as they themselves are not able or willing to travel, so they can still participate in missions projects by helping those who can and are called to go.
Prayer. These are people who will pray for you, the team and those who you will be working with before, during and after the trip. These are believers who know the power of prayer. You will need to make sure to keep them informed of your requests through the process.
Moral. These are your cheerleaders. Those who are asking you “when do you leave?” “Are you excited?” “What did you do?”. They may or may not be able to give money, but they are rooting for you to have an incredible experience. This is a great way to include non-believers in this process. This also gives you the opportunity to share the gospel with them!
