Deacon Nominations

Nominate a Deacon

We’re now accepting nominations for new deacons at GracePoint Church. Please prayerfully consider the biblical qualifications and expectations outlined below, and use the form at the bottom of the page to submit your nomination.

What Is a Deacon at GracePoint?

Deacons at GracePoint are biblically qualified, servant-hearted men who lead teams that meet the practical needs of our church and community. Deacons do not serve as spiritual overseers (that role belongs to our elders), but they are essential to the life of our church. They model spiritual maturity, lead by example, and organize the service efforts that help our ministries thrive.
Deacons at GracePoint will lead and serve through five key teams:

• Safety Team
• Worship Services Team
• Serve the City Team
• Connections & Hospitality Team
• Care Team

You can learn more about each of these teams on our Serve the Church page.

Biblical Qualifications of a Deacon

Deacons must meet the scriptural qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:8–13, which call for men of high character, spiritual maturity, and tested faithfulness:
Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well.
1 Timothy 3:8–13, ESV
GracePoint also affirms that deacons should be:

• Men who are honorable, sincere, self-controlled, and spiritually grounded
• Known for wisdom, faithfulness, and servant-heartedness
• Actively involved in the life of the church
• Committed to biblical leadership in their homes and public lives

What Deacons Commit To

All deacons agree to uphold the commitments outlined in the Deacon Covenant. This includes commitments in the following areas:

•Protecting the Unity of the Church
•Sharing the Responsibility of the Church
•Serving the Ministry of the Church
•Supporting the Testimony of the Church
