Deacon-Led Serve Teams

Deacons at GracePoint

Deacons are modeled in scripture as upright, dignified, self-controlled individuals who serve the body of Christ with integrity. At GracePoint Church, deacons serve by leading teams of church members that meet the various needs of the church. A list of the teams, deacon leaders, and descriptions can be found below.
Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 3:8-13 (ESV)

Deacon Led Teams

Safety Team

Led by Paul Lake & Tim Alderman

The Safety Team is responsible for protecting church facilities and personnel from harm by conducting regular safety audits, ensuring team members complete required general and arms training, vetting and recruiting new safety team members from the congregation, and staffing all church activities with appropriate safety personnel. Their main goals are to identify and mitigate safety risks through audits and training, maintain a qualified safety team through recruitment and arms certification, and provide security coverage for all programs requiring it. The team aims to create a safe environment for the church community.

Communion & Worship Team

Led by Mike Brown & Ken Griffin

Care Team

Led by Mike Daniel & Greg Samberson

The Care Team provides support for church members dealing with health issues, personal struggles, or practical needs, by offering hospital/home visits, transportation, meals, and financial assistance. The team aims to provide compassionate care and practical help to church members facing difficulties.

Facilities Team

Their responsibilities include assessing facility condition, reporting needs, budgeting, planning and leading work days, and organizing helpers to meet various facilities needs as they arise.

Prayer Team

Led by David Darr

The prayer team coordinates prayer efforts for the church community, including pre-service prayer for the pastor and services, targeted prayer for upcoming events and needs, and regular prayer for staff, elders, and congregation members. Their responsibilities involve organizing a team to pray with the pastor on Sundays, mobilizing prayer teams to intercede for emphasis events and other needs brought to them, and scheduling regular prayer for staff, leadership, and church members, focusing on items conveyed by the Care Team and others.
